Creating Discounts: All Cart Items / Buy X, Get Percentage Off Cheapest Item #
Tip: This Discount shows how to set up a discount where customers get a percentage off the cheapest item in their cart after buying a certain number of products. For example, if a customer buys 3 items, they get 20% off the 4th (cheapest) item.
Create a New Discount Rule #
Use the “All Cart Items / Buy X, Get Percentage Off Cheapest Item” option. Follow the step-by-step instructions below.
Log into Lifelong POS #
Navigate to https://login.lifelongpos.com/ on a web browser.
Access the Items Tab #
Click on the “Items” tab on the left-hand side of the screen.
Open Price/Discount Rules #
At the top right of the screen, click on “Price/Discount Rules”.
Create a New Discount #
Click on “New Price/Discount Rule” to create a new discount.
Name the Discount #
Click the “Name” field to type in the name of your discount.
Example: Type “Buy 2 Get 20% Off Cheapest Item”
Select Discount Option #
Choose the “All Cart Items / Buy X, Get Percentage Off Cheapest Item” option. This will allow you to set a fixed discount price for products.
Select Products or Categories #
Click the “Type to search” box under products to select the items you want to include in this discount or sale.
You can also choose Categories, but do not select both categories and individual products at the same time.
Add More Products #
To add another product, click the dropdown under products and select the next item.
Click the up arrow once all items are added.
Review Product List #
Once all items are listed, you can delete any by clicking the X next to the product name.
Set Discount Amount and Conditions #
Under the “Amount” field, enter the percentage off the cheapest product.
Specify how many products must be bought in the “Buy X” field.
Example: Set Amount to 20 for a 20% discount. Customer buys 3 items, the 4th (cheapest) item gets 20% off.
Save the Discount #
Click “Save Changes”.
Customize Discount Rules #
Options to further customize:
- Days of the Week: Choose specific days for discount activity.
- Hours of the Day: Set hours for the discount like Happy Hour.
- Start & End Dates: Define when the discount starts and ends.
These options allow fine-tuning of your discount availability.

By adding 4 items to the cart, this guide shows a discount setup where buying 3 items results in 20% off the 4th (cheapest) item.
